The Kingdom of the Black Phoenixes stands on the edge of its first great crisis.
When Prince Eiros is sent to investigate troubling reports from the harbor city of Ur-nam, he expects a routine mission. But his cousin, Princess Zarea, seems uneasy about his arrival, and beneath the surface, whispers of rebellion grow louder. Meanwhile, sixteen-year-old Stryke and her family arrive in the Old World seeking a fresh start—only to find that the farm they’ve been assigned to hides unsettling secrets.
As tensions rise and hidden forces close in, Stryke’s and Eiros’s paths will cross in ways that neither could have foreseen. In a land where ancient powers stir and alliances shift like sand, survival may depend on trust, even when the world seems to be unraveling.
An adventurous novella set in Eli’s World, blending mystery, fantasy, and the challenges of growing up, perfect for readers aged 11–15.
Behind them, several other men dressed in green cloaks with the phoenix emblem were chasing and shouting at the fleeing dwarves, trying to catch them. The dwarves ignored them. Then, on the other side of the street, opposite the dwarves, a man and a woman in green cloaks appeared and aimed crossbows at the fleeing dwarves. They stopped and looked around. One of them dashed into the scaffolding on the left and disappeared from Eiros’s view. The other tried to follow but didn’t make it in time. The woman opposite him fired, and the bolt knocked the dwarf to the ground. The pursuers in green cloaks caught up to him and gathered around him.
“We’re going down,” Eiros shouted. Without waiting, he flew down and landed above the group.
“What happened here?” he shouted at the men in green cloaks. Zarea flew down to him. The men looked up, and Eiros saw the wounded dwarf lying on the ground.
“Nothing unusual, sir,” one of the men replied. He had black hair and a beard covering his entire chin. A silver earring glinted on his right ear. “Just dwarves. One slipped away, but we’ll find him. He doesn’t stand a chance here in Ur-nam.”
“Princess!” Another man recognized Zarea and bowed. “We’re doing our job.”
